This
little town, at the east of Chimbote, is one of the rare places of the
region that hasn't been devastated by earthquakes or landslides. It has an attractive
main square (Plaza de Armas), a lot of cheap hotels and restaurants and,
important thing, a lot of nice paths and the surrounding hills. Caráz
is, also, the departure point for walks to Llanganuco, Santa Cruz,
the great Parón and canyon del Pato lakes.
