The original digitized pages were larger. But for meanly data-processing questions, it was not possible to put just as it is these pages.
Moreover, all the pages were "cleaned", i.e. that the bottom yellowed by time was removed. See example behind. Perhaps somebody will see there an insult to the original work. In fact, it was necessary to make a choice, difficult: that to privilege the container or the contents. I personally think that the contents were more significant, even if the seal of time disappeared and the work was hard.
