Presentation / introduction

In 1612, after the fall of the Inca's Empire, a Peruvian mongrel: Felipe Guaman Poma de Ayala started writing of La Nueva Crónica y El Buen Gobierno.

Along 1200 pages (including 400 illustrations), Guaman Poma wrote this book, intended for the King Felipe III os Spain. Its objective was then to require of the King a reform of the Spanish colonial government of this time, in order to save the Andean people of the colonial exploitation, diseases and racial mixture.

During three years, the author travelled Peru, accompanied by his son and his dog "amigo". Although he presente himself a Christian, like million autochthon of his time in Latin America, it is probable that they had other beliefs, holding the exoteric for Christianity and the esoteric for the aboriginal. This mitigated point of view show, as long of pages, the incompetence and the cruelty of the conquistadors like its observations and political, economic and social solutions.
